40 Years of Volunteer Service -But Who's Counting?

Richard H. Clark officially retires from accounting for anything for anyone but his wife

40 years is a long time. A lifetime. A generation.

At the request of the Executive Committee, our president, Davis S. Clark and Treasurer, Richard H. Clark, officially handed their reins to the next generation. With this change comes a well deserved retirement for our treasurer for a stretch of service that won't be matched and hasn't been seen since the early days of the organization when the original executives appointed by Ezra served for over 50 years.

Richard H. Clark, 72, had been serving as Treasurer since 1982. (40 years!) During his tenure he successfully oversaw donations and the helped the organization finance several seminal projects, one being this new website in 2022; The beginning of the restoration of the Ezra T. Clark home in 2021; The publication of 'Timothy Baldwin' in 2017 and 'Noble Pioneer' in 2001; The second edition of 'The Ancestors and Descendants of Ezra T. Clark' –also affectionately referred to as the 'Green Book'. in 1996. These feats are in addition to financial oversight and reimbursements for all 30 reunions since 1982.

Not your average Boring Account

But that is just scratching the surface. During these 40 years, Richard and Chris raised and married-off five children: Allison, Sheri, Jeff, Anthony, Joseph, then entered retirement, Richard and his wife, Chris also logged four years on two service missions in Salt Lake City.

Saving Ezra's Acres

Most don't know that Richard and Chris were pivotal in financing the purchase a few of Ezra's dwindling undeveloped acres, allowing them to be kept in the family so that eventually they could become the Clark Barn (currently in the architectural stages) and the so that the family could restore the homestead and create the Clark Barn for the enjoyment of future generations. Richard and Chris have done a lot of stealthy good deeds that most will never know about but will undoubtedly be rewarded.

Richard and Chris enjoy their grandkids, eating healthy and playing Pickleball whenever they can. They also capped-off their 40 years with the organizaion by enjoying the Faith & Family origins tour through New England this fall.

Bought a home they rent to African refugees

Pass along his earned knowledge to Stuart J. Clark, out next treasurer. Watch out Stuart.
