Introduction
Because of my failure to keep a diary or accurate record of the events in my life, I would like to make note of some experiences that might be of interest to my children and grandchildren.
During the years of my life there have been great changes, ranging from the horse and buggy days to the supersonic jet age, from the coal-oil lamp to electric lights, and from the short trips with team and wagon to outer space trips around the moon, and I am grateful to have been permitted to live and witness these great changes. The advancement in science has been tremendous and many changes in social and economic conditions have occurred. Although I have not been scientifically inclined,
I have played an interesting part in the social and personal welfare activities of our state.
My early life was spent on the farm with my parents and family, and my desire was to be a cattle rancher. But as I went through school, I instead went into teaching, adjusting claims on the railroad, and then into the legal profession where the greater part of my life has been spent.
I am grateful for the many opportunities given me by my parents, my family, the Church, and the communities where I have lived and worked.
It has been a great blessing to me to spend most of my life working with and for young people, and I will be ever grateful for friendships that have developed through the years. To my family and friends I am very grateful for the love, friendship, and support they have given me.
