George Edward Cook was born on 23 November 1872 in Fountain Green, Sanpete County to William F. and Jane Booth Cook. He lived most of his life in Fountain Green. He was involved in civic affairs in his community and served as a council member of Fountain Green. He was president of the Jericho Wool Growers' Association. He was a farmer and a wool farmer. George served a mission to the southern states in 1899. On 27 January 1904 he married Edith Justeson and they had seven children.
After his first wife, Edith passed away in 1947, he moved to Salt Lake City and bought a small home at 1368 Harrison Avenue. He met Laura though her daughter LaRue and her husband Grant Bowen. George wanted to share this house with Laura. George married Laura Blanche Clark Cook Silver on 14 December 1949. He also had a new car every year and they took a few trips together.
In September 1950 it was discovered that George had a weak heart. His children came to help Laura take care of him in Salt Lake City. In the spring of 1952 his children took him to Fountain Green to take care of him while they were busy with the lamb season. He was serving on the high council of the Moroni Stake when he passed away on 27 May 1952 at his son, Morris F. Cook's Fountain Green home. He is buried in the Fountain Green Cemetery next to his first wife Edith. Laura and George were only married for two years and five months.
